About OMG Network
OMG Network was an Ethereum scaling project built on the Plasma framework, aimed at moving value quickly and cheaply off the main chain. OMG is its token.
How OMG Network Works
The network batched transactions off-chain and settled them to Ethereum, using Plasma's exit mechanism so users could always withdraw their funds back to the main chain without trusting the operator. It was designed for high-volume value transfer rather than general computation.
The History of OMG
Launched in 2017 as OmiseGO by the payments company Omise, the project was an early and prominent attempt at Ethereum scaling, backed by Vitalik Buterin as an advisor. It later rebranded to OMG Network and was acquired by Genesis Block Ventures. Plasma was largely superseded by rollups as the dominant scaling approach.
What OMG Is Used For
OMG was intended to be staked to validate the network and earn a share of transaction fees. In practice it has traded mainly as a legacy asset from the earlier generation of Ethereum scaling projects.

Why buy OMG Network with YouHodler? +
YouHodler combines advanced security and encryption with a simple way to buy and sell OMG, fast crypto transactions, support for multiple fiat currencies, and a platform that works for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
Is OMG Network a good investment? +
OMG belongs to an earlier generation of Ethereum scaling, built on a framework the ecosystem has largely moved past in favour of rollups. Development activity has been limited and the project no longer holds the position it did in 2017. OMG is volatile and thinly supported — research its current status carefully before investing.
Can I buy OMG Network today and sell it tomorrow? +
Yes. YouHodler supports selling as well as buying, so you can acquire OMG and later exchange it for fiat currencies such as USD or EUR. Transactions settle quickly, major fiat currencies are supported, and withdrawals go out by bank transfer.
Is it safe to buy OMG Network? +
Buying OMG is generally safe on a reliable platform like YouHodler, which applies data encryption, identity verification and multi-layer account protection. The asset itself stays highly volatile, so prices can move sharply over short periods.
How do I convert OMG Network to cash? +
Connect a bank account, debit card or credit card to your YouHodler profile, exchange your OMG for a fiat currency such as USD or EUR, then withdraw the balance straight to your bank.
How much is $100 worth of OMG Network right now? +
That depends on the live OMG price, which moves constantly. Use the price chart on this page to see the current rate and work out exactly how much OMG $100 buys at this moment.
