About Starknet
Starknet is an Ethereum layer-two network that uses validity proofs to process transactions off-chain and settle them cheaply on Ethereum. STRK is its native token, used for fees, staking and governance.
How Starknet Works
Transactions are executed off-chain and bundled into a cryptographic proof that Ethereum verifies in a single step. Because the proof establishes correctness mathematically, there is no challenge period and no need to trust the operator. Contracts are written in Cairo, a language built specifically for provable computation.
The History of Starknet
Starknet was built by StarkWare, founded by Eli Ben-Sasson and colleagues who did foundational academic work on zero-knowledge proofs. The network launched in 2021 and the STRK token was distributed in early 2024. The protocol has progressively decentralized its sequencing and proving.
What STRK Is Used For
STRK pays transaction fees on the network, is staked to participate in securing it, and carries governance votes over protocol upgrades. Its role grows as sequencing and proving move from the core team to a wider set of participants.

Why buy Starknet with YouHodler? +
YouHodler combines advanced security and encryption with a simple way to buy and sell STRK, fast crypto transactions, support for multiple fiat currencies, and a platform that works for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
Is Starknet a good investment? +
Starknet comes from one of the strongest research teams in zero-knowledge proofs and its validity-proof approach avoids the withdrawal delays of optimistic rollups. Cairo is a barrier for developers used to Solidity, and layer-two competition is fierce. STRK is volatile — research it before investing.
Can I buy Starknet today and sell it tomorrow? +
Yes. YouHodler supports selling as well as buying, so you can acquire STRK and later exchange it for fiat currencies such as USD or EUR. Transactions settle quickly, major fiat currencies are supported, and withdrawals go out by bank transfer.
Is it safe to buy Starknet? +
Buying STRK is generally safe on a reliable platform like YouHodler, which applies data encryption, identity verification and multi-layer account protection. The asset itself stays highly volatile, so prices can move sharply over short periods.
How do I convert Starknet to cash? +
Connect a bank account, debit card or credit card to your YouHodler profile, exchange your STRK for a fiat currency such as USD or EUR, then withdraw the balance straight to your bank.
How much is $100 worth of Starknet right now? +
That depends on the live STRK price, which moves constantly. Use the price chart on this page to see the current rate and work out exactly how much STRK $100 buys at this moment.
