About Wormhole
Wormhole is a messaging protocol that lets blockchains send data and assets to one another, connecting more than thirty networks. W is its governance token, used to steer the protocol and its cross-chain infrastructure.
How Wormhole Works
A set of independent validators, called guardians, observe events on one chain and attest to them so a contract on another chain can act. That general messaging layer carries token transfers, governance votes and arbitrary application data. Later components added native token transfers and a cross-chain query system.
The History of Wormhole
Wormhole launched in 2021 and suffered a major exploit in February 2022, when an attacker minted wrapped assets on Solana; the loss was covered by its backers and the vulnerability fixed. The protocol has since rebuilt its security model, become one of the most widely integrated interoperability layers, and issued the W token in April 2024.
What W Is Used For
W carries governance rights over the protocol's parameters, guardian set and treasury, and is staked to participate in decision-making. It also underpins the incentive programs that encourage integrations across chains.

Why buy Wormhole with YouHodler? +
YouHodler combines advanced security and encryption with a simple way to buy and sell W, fast crypto transactions, support for multiple fiat currencies, and a platform that works for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
Is Wormhole a good investment? +
Wormhole is one of the most widely integrated cross-chain messaging layers, which gives it a strong network position. Bridges are among the most heavily attacked components in crypto and Wormhole itself was exploited once, so security remains the central risk. W is volatile — research the current security model before investing.
Can I buy Wormhole today and sell it tomorrow? +
Yes. YouHodler supports selling as well as buying, so you can acquire W and later exchange it for fiat currencies such as USD or EUR. Transactions settle quickly, major fiat currencies are supported, and withdrawals go out by bank transfer.
Is it safe to buy Wormhole? +
Buying W is generally safe on a reliable platform like YouHodler, which applies data encryption, identity verification and multi-layer account protection. The asset itself stays highly volatile, so prices can move sharply over short periods.
How do I convert Wormhole to cash? +
Connect a bank account, debit card or credit card to your YouHodler profile, exchange your W for a fiat currency such as USD or EUR, then withdraw the balance straight to your bank.
How much is $100 worth of Wormhole right now? +
That depends on the live W price, which moves constantly. Use the price chart on this page to see the current rate and work out exactly how much W $100 buys at this moment.
