About Tezos
Tezos is a proof-of-stake blockchain designed to upgrade itself without hard forks. Protocol changes are proposed, voted on and adopted entirely on-chain, which lets the network evolve while staying a single chain. XTZ is the native asset used for staking and governance.
How Tezos Works
Validators, called bakers, stake XTZ to produce and endorse blocks, and holders can delegate to a baker without giving up custody. Amendments to the protocol run through a formal on-chain cycle of proposal, exploration, testing and adoption, so an approved upgrade activates automatically across the network.
The History of Tezos
Designed by Arthur and Kathleen Breitman, Tezos raised a large sum in 2017 and launched in 2018 after a period of legal and organisational disputes. It has since shipped a long series of self-amending upgrades, each named alphabetically, and has found a niche in digital art, gaming and tokenized assets.
What XTZ Is Used For
XTZ pays transaction fees, secures the chain through staking and delegation, and carries the votes that decide protocol amendments. It is also the base asset for the NFT and DeFi applications built on Tezos.

Why buy Tezos with YouHodler? +
YouHodler combines advanced security and encryption with a simple way to buy and sell XTZ, fast crypto transactions, support for multiple fiat currencies, and a platform that works for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
Is Tezos a good investment? +
Tezos has delivered on self-amendment, upgrading many times without a contentious split, and has real adoption in art and tokenization. It has struggled to match the developer activity of larger smart-contract platforms. XTZ is volatile — research the network's current traction before investing.
Can I buy Tezos today and sell it tomorrow? +
Yes. YouHodler supports selling as well as buying, so you can acquire XTZ and later exchange it for fiat currencies such as USD or EUR. Transactions settle quickly, major fiat currencies are supported, and withdrawals go out by bank transfer.
Is it safe to buy Tezos? +
Buying XTZ is generally safe on a reliable platform like YouHodler, which applies data encryption, identity verification and multi-layer account protection. The asset itself stays highly volatile, so prices can move sharply over short periods.
How do I convert Tezos to cash? +
Connect a bank account, debit card or credit card to your YouHodler profile, exchange your XTZ for a fiat currency such as USD or EUR, then withdraw the balance straight to your bank.
How much is $100 worth of Tezos right now? +
That depends on the live XTZ price, which moves constantly. Use the price chart on this page to see the current rate and work out exactly how much XTZ $100 buys at this moment.
