About Zilliqa
Zilliqa is a blockchain that was among the first to put sharding into production, dividing its validators into groups that process transactions in parallel. ZIL is the native asset used for fees, staking and governance.
How Zilliqa Works
The network splits validators into shards that each handle a portion of transactions simultaneously, with a coordinating shard assembling the results into final blocks. Throughput rises as more nodes join. Smart contracts are written in Scilla, a purpose-built language designed so that contract behavior can be formally checked.
The History of Zilliqa
Zilliqa grew out of research at the National University of Singapore and launched its main network in 2019, making it one of the earliest live sharded blockchains. The project has since worked on gaming, metaverse and streaming applications, and has gone through significant protocol upgrades.
What ZIL Is Used For
ZIL pays transaction fees and is staked to help secure the network and earn rewards. It also serves as the base asset for applications and tokens issued on Zilliqa.

Why buy Zilliqa with YouHodler? +
YouHodler combines advanced security and encryption with a simple way to buy and sell ZIL, fast crypto transactions, support for multiple fiat currencies, and a platform that works for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
Is Zilliqa a good investment? +
Zilliqa delivered practical sharding earlier than most and its Scilla language takes contract safety seriously. The ecosystem around it is small relative to larger platforms and developer momentum has been limited. ZIL is volatile and thinly traded compared with major assets — research it before investing.
Can I buy Zilliqa today and sell it tomorrow? +
Yes. YouHodler supports selling as well as buying, so you can acquire ZIL and later exchange it for fiat currencies such as USD or EUR. Transactions settle quickly, major fiat currencies are supported, and withdrawals go out by bank transfer.
Is it safe to buy Zilliqa? +
Buying ZIL is generally safe on a reliable platform like YouHodler, which applies data encryption, identity verification and multi-layer account protection. The asset itself stays highly volatile, so prices can move sharply over short periods.
How do I convert Zilliqa to cash? +
Connect a bank account, debit card or credit card to your YouHodler profile, exchange your ZIL for a fiat currency such as USD or EUR, then withdraw the balance straight to your bank.
How much is $100 worth of Zilliqa right now? +
That depends on the live ZIL price, which moves constantly. Use the price chart on this page to see the current rate and work out exactly how much ZIL $100 buys at this moment.
